Education and Workforce development
What Daniel Will Do
- Continue to support local education initiatives that create a modern workforce.
- Seek partnerships and relationships with state, federal, and private industries that prepare us for the future.
- Advocate for forming a joint regional Workforce Development and Education Board consisting of elected officials, representatives of the business community, and educators, to formulate a vision and initiatives to prepare our workforce for the future.
- Reach across imaginary boundaries and work to create strong partnerships among different stakeholders including local government, local and regional economic development departments, chamber of commerce, industry, nonprofits/foundations, state and local workforce development boards, post-secondary institutions, k-12 schools, community-based organizations, youth development organizations and service/training providers.
What Daniel has done
While this says “What Daniel Has Done,” it is essential to acknowledge that we do not work in a vacuum and cannot accomplish anything individually. It takes working together as a Board, through our differences, and finding ways to compromise. Achieving our goals also requires leadership and dedication at the staff level. It would be unfair to claim any of these accomplishments as solely my own.
- Supported local education opportunities in vocational skills training.
- Worked with regional agencies to bring real-world training and skill development opportunities to high school and freshman college students to help them gain instant employment.
- Participated in regional workforce development programs, committees, and study groups.
